CrystalView Series Instant WiFi Router
I recently received a Sony Blu-ray Player as a gift and was excited to see that it was Internet ready, or so I thought based on the packaging. I soon found out that I would need an expensive Sony adapter (costing nearly the same amount that was paid for the player). Luckily I read a review on this website from someone who had gotten such a player and wasn't able to connect it to the Internet (for the purposes of streming movies, etc) until he/she learned of the Edimax Range Extender. So I purchased the Edimax EW-7228APn Wireless Range Extender/Access Point and I can now enjoy such programs as the Berlin Philharmonic concerts on my Blu-ray player. I could not on my own figure out how to connect the range extender to the player and make it work, so I called Edimax and received very thorough technical assistance from Edimax. It took several hours and loads of patience on the part of the Edimax tech support person to get my Blu-ray player connected to the Internet, but it worked and it cost me less than half of the price of the Sony adapter. I can recommend this product highly and the superb technical support at Edimax.Edimax EW-7228APn 150Mbps 11n Wireless Range Extender/Access Point with 5 Port Switch

BalasHapusI bought 2 of these on clearance at CVS for $6.25 each a couple of days ago. The model # there is IWR-12/1333, and it mention the repeater function in smaller lettering on the box. The firmware was a higher rev than on the Tenda site (but earlier release date, weird), 5.something.38, dated 8-3-2012.
BalasHapusBOTH routers were able to be set up as repeaters following the thick manual or the Quick Start Guide.
If you can find these on clearance at CVS, GET ONE if you ever take trips - this thing is TINY, and can be useful setting up a wireless network in hotel/timeshare rooms where they have a wired connection. One is permanently going in my trip bag, the other will be a repeater on the other side of the house.
