ADATA Series High Speed Flash AN005P 64G CGY

ADATA Series High Speed Flash AN005P 64G CGY

I've had one of these for a couple months now, and thought I'd chime in. My old flash was an 8GB USB 2.0, also from ADATA, but it was a little slow and mostly filled with my 'stuff' that just hung around. I was looking for a USB 3.0 drive. After doing a little research, I thought this 64GB unit would be a good compromise between price and speed. Some others cost twice as much and offer only a little more speed. In fact, the speed of 64GB flash drives with USB 3.0 seem to be all over the map, depending on the manufacturer or the model. Also noted that some of the others could get hot, and may have issues when they do. That probably explains why this one is so large, to dissipate heat when it's really busy. Yes, it's big for a flash drive, and really dwarfs my old unit, when side-by-side. When copying small files (mostly on USB 2.0 machines), it's not so much of a speed demon. However, I copy a lot of files that are megabytes in size, often 10-100MB. That's when this little unit really struts its stuff. I'm pleasantly surprised at how quick it is, and I'm usually not even using units with USB 3.0 ports. I don't understand some of the other comments about the cap falling off, as mine seems sturdy, especially as a cover on the port side when it's unplugged; so maybe they made a physical revision to the unit to improve this.

  1. So many flash drives over there...

I like this one for it's:
    + speed (USB 3.0 rulez!)
+ 64Gb - like an extra Solid State HDD to my PC... but for such a low price
+ size (just don't like very small ones that are so easy t lost)

Will see if cap still will hold after a few years :).

  2. ADATA is known for quality and this fits the bill. The main body is durable metal, not easily flexed or cracked pastic. The only complaint is that the darn cap slips off easily, especially in the small inner pocket of my backpack where I keep flashdrives. I just keep a rubber band looped around it, and the problem is solved., The price is really reasonable for the amount of storage and ADATA reliability.

    PROS:
    -64 GB
    -USB 3.0 Transfer speeds
    -Faster than my HDD
-Easily fit many movies and video games

    CONS:
-the cap, The cap on this USB will always fall off just like others have said in their reviews. Even in my pocket i take out the USB and the cap fell off, i guess im lucky i haven't lost the cap yet

  5. It's flash drive really helps me. I work in help desk support and I do not need CD-s or DVD-s.

  6. Extremely fast. Bought 32 GB Adata N005's previously and have had very good luck with them. Always use these N005's when speed is important. The only thing I don't like is the cover. It just won't stay put when you have the flashdrive in your pocket.

    PROS:

1st: This flash drive is insanely fast.

2nd: The body of it is very sturdy.

    3rd: Large capacity.

4th: My favorite of all pros very cheap for the performance of it.

    CONS:

1st: It's very large (3.5 inches long) but considering how fast and how much memory it is I don't mind it.

2nd: Only thing I would remove half a star for is the cap, after maybe of having it an hour, just flies off even when I let it down from maybe an inch off the desk. Not a huge deal for me again but slightly annoying.

  8. Everything as expected, feel, speed, quality.
    I tested it on my Dell XPS i7 HDD 7200rpm USB3.0 and USB 2.0 WIN7 64bit
    Re-format to NTFS

    File size: 11GB single file

USB 3.0: 88 MB/sec write (same speed when I copied the same file back to laptop)
USB 2.0: 34 MB/sec write (same speed when I copied the same file back to laptop)

I expected around 55MB/sec on USB3.0 since I don't have an SSD HDD, but it started around 110MB/sec and dropped to 88MB7sec steady.

Only thing that is "bad" is the size, it's kinda big.

  9. Good capacity, read and writes very fast on a USB 3.0 port, about 300MBs.
I have put several 1080P movies on this and plays flawlessly in my BluRay player.
