PERFECT For My 17.3" Gaming Computer

Standers 2052 Able Tray

Standers 2052 Able Tray

This is the 3nd product I purchased from Amazon that was manufactured by Standers. The able tray looked superior to other side tables for lift chairs and I was not disappointed. The product is very well constructed, easy to assemble, and easy to adjust. I am using it with an infinite position lift chair and experienced no problems. I like the flexibility of using the tray on many types of chair, and on either side. While the tray and handle assembly are quite rugged, the handle would not be suitable to use in place of a grab bar as pulling on the handle from a seated position causes the base to twist and possible lift off the floor --- however it is fine for steadying but should not be pulled upon too strongly. All in all I am quite pleased with the able tray, as I also have been with the other Standers products (adjustable assist pole with curved handle and the handi bar for use in the car --- both purchased from Amazon).

  1. This table exceeds my expectations. It is strong and well made. I have severe pain problems sitting at my computer so I have set this up at my couch. My 22" monitor fits on the table and I arrange the keyboard and mouse on my lap. I can put my feet on the ottoman and relax back while gaming or paying bills. The table rotates two ways so I can position the monitor how I want it. (The table arm rotates around the vertical stand, and then the table itself rotates about its center. This also means you can orient the utensil tray toward you or away from you.) It has a leveling screw too which is a nice touch. Very easy to put together.

I think I will get some straps to secure the monitor mount just in case someone bumps it, but the table carries its weight very well. The only thing I would have liked is if it could lower just one more notch; that would be a bit better for the LCD monitor viewing angle, but that's a minor detail and only a problem when I scrunch down and even then I just have to tolerate a bit less brightness. For that matter, lowering it would interfere with my keyboard. Different monitors may have different viewing angles though so your results may vary. The only way to improve on that would be to physically mount the monitor to something that rotates it vertically for you, but that was more expense or trouble than I wanted.

For my needs, I like the table's small size. I can rotate my monitor out of the way. A bigger table would be in the way when I get up and down. This table is just about perfect for what I wanted to do. With the monitor on it, there is no room for much else, but that's what I wanted, basically, a table to make a comfortable, reclined gaming station.

EDIT: I've moved this station to a recliner. It works great. The rocker/recliner support does not fit exactly on the Stander pads; the pads need to be slightly closer together, but it is fitting just barely and functioning well enough. The recliner is a Best Home Furnishings rocker/recliner; these don't have four legs like a regular chair but a frame support thing underneath. The whole setup is working well, and I don't think it would have worked with any other table. I am so glad I got this, I love it.

If you want to be a perfectionist and are a handy carpenter, you could make up a couple boards, one slightly thicker, to put under the recliner feet. This would give more stability to the Stander, and would even out the slight (about 1/4") tilt. Right now I'm just using a couple furniture floor protectors under the opposite feet. So this is very doable, if you're looking to make a recliner gaming chair, using this Stander Tray.

  2. My Dad is fine sitting down and walking, but the transition between the two was starting to get a bit scary and wobbly. I found this product and even though he balked when I brought it over, he has found it very helpful. My brother came over and did some fine tuning so it was very steady and it has indeed helped my Dad get up from his "sittin' chair" with better confidence. He no longer has to carry the tv tray around, since he can just swing this one away and he doesn't complain about losing his crossword pencil anymore. It's also a good looking unit. We're all very pleased with the Standers Able Tray.

  3. If you are looking for a free-standing chair tray that's fully adjustable and easy to use...this is it. It was purchased to use with a recliner...the only thing I found that works. Do plan, however, to shim the opposite legs to level the chair.

  4. Purchased this product for our 89 year old Aunt who uses a lift chair. The Able Tray allows her to eat at her chair as well as do her paperwork. She is very pleased with the Able Tray.

  5. I am impressed by the high quality and superior appearance of this assist. Many medical products are functional, but ugly eyesores. This is not one of those. It looks right at home with my leather couch and Brazillian hardwood floors and is not immediately recognizable as a medical or assistive device. I experience bouts of immobility and pain due to a back injury, so being able to sit in the same chair to eat, use my computer and watch television or read is a huge plus for me. I hate being stuck in bed during the day and this product has helped lessen that. It works very well to lean on or pull against when rising from my chair and as a balance and stability support when I sit down. This is definitely a five star purchase for me!

  7. Very easy to assemble and use. We have it installed between two recliners - front under one chair and back under the other chair. That means that the tray and handle/grip will work for both chairs. We love it. Money well spent
